Car Brakes

Brake Servicing at CB Auto Service in Kirkcaldy

One of the most important safety systems in the vehicle is the braking system. All brake components are safety components and a brake system is only as strong as its weakest point. That’s why there must be no compromises in the overall brake system.

Drivers rely on their brake system to function perfectly, but what happens behind the brake pedal is perceptible to them only as an effect. In countless hazard situations, like the sudden tailback on the freeway or the child that runs out onto the road, good reactions and a properly functioning brake system are what counts.

Optimum braking safety – guaranteed by the top quality of the brake system and components from Bosch, Europe’s No. 1 brake system manufacturer. That’s why leading automobile manufacturers also back the high-quality standards of Bosch brake systems when it comes to OEM systems.

Brake Fluid Change

Why does my car need its brake fluid changed?

Most cars have hydraulic brakes and the fluid in them needs to withstand operating temperatures of up to 230°C. Over time it absorbs water, which boils at 100°C and turns to compressible vapour, so the hydraulics in your braking system weaken, and so does the braking power. This makes your brakes feel spongey and compromises your control of the vehicle, as well as your safety on the road.

It’s recommended to have your brake fluid changed when your car is three years old, and from then on, every two years.

What do we do?
CB Auto Service will check the brake fluid level and look for leaks, then we’ll drain the system and replace the brake fluid. After that, we run a thorough test and record this service in your service book.
